And Vincent and I went to Art Bar.
It's a snazzy lil place in downtown Columbia and it's a great place to be if you've got time to burn on the weekends.
So I was in town, and Vincent and I wanted somewhere to be so Art Bar it was.
Interesting characters floating around that place..
But aside from the people-watching (which is also an awesome feature), I'm absolutely in love with the way the place is set up.
Big open central bar where the bar-keeps all flutter around serving drinks in the middle while everyone sits around in this giant, room-sized circle. It's really drum-circle, communal feeling. Great for facilitating conversation with otherwise absolute strangers, I guess.
But anyway, while I was there I decided to get a jump on my Digital Photography assignment and take some macros.
It's actually one of the few bars where I've seen them use REAL burning candles..
This one's my favorite. They have this projector in one of the rooms parallel to the bar and it throws this moving lava lamp-like image on the wall.. It's crazy awesome to be in there; and there's writing from various patrons all over the walls which only adds to the ambiance, I think.
I think I might actually make this the image on my Mac's desktop...
In the same room there's also a chandelier decked out in red Christmas lights.
I'm pretty sure it was "rescued" years ago. As I'm sure MUCH of the decor in Art Bar was.
This thing is MASSIVE as far as my experience with dive bars go.. and yes. Art Bar's a bit of a hole in the wall, but its practically 0 on the the Sketch-o-meter.
Like I said, interesting characters, good service, and you'll
overdose on the ambiance..
Quite frankly, I don't think I'll even bother sending these through Photoshop...
At least not rigorously...
I love 'em just that much..
Oh and btdubbs, if you're interested in checking out Art Bar and all its awesomeness I suggest going
here.
