I got it finished!!

I have SO MUCH newfound respect for web designers!!

This stuff is DIFFICULT!!

I mean REALLY!

But it supposedly pays a lot so I think I just might have to look further into getting better at it.

Check out the mockup of my home page:

I HATED the first design I came up with so I went back in and re-did the main page with a whole new logo.

I'm rather fond of this one.

It's amazing what you can do with the Myriad Pro font when you apply a little imagination, some puzzle constructing skills, and a whole semester- worth of knowledge in typography.

I also have mockups of the other hyperlinked pages. [PS: check out that fancy "blog" link... wonder what that links to...*smug*]
Each one containing this same kind of treatment with the letters.

I think I might make a button out of the "Modern Design"....

Button Design [Pt. 2]

We didn't have class today...
My instructor got sick the night before and didn't come into class.

Of course, I only learned that in the email she sent AFTER going into class like 3min late and noticing that the room we meet in was closed and locked.

And after I stayed up ALL NIGHT working too!!

*huffsigh!*

Geez... Alright.

Partake.

Cheshire Cat button! I thought about adding text.
Something along the lines of "All Mad Here.." or something to that effect.

PuChan's a lil character I cooked up one summer while I was bored and wanted a pet to entertain me (minus the poop factor).
I don't know what breed he is.
I don't think he even has one.
Not even 'mutt'.
But that's cool. He doesn't like to be labeled.
He IS a lil on the fat side though...

Button Design [Pt. 1]

Yet another project for Print.
This time we're doing buttons!
And we get to use more COLORS!!

I'm REALLY fond of this one.

There are others. We have to have like five of these things (again with specifications) ready for critiquing by class Monday morning. I'm just not finished with them all. But I'll post them up when I'm finished with them!
I'm pretty sure my instructor won't let this one make the cut, but I guess I tried.
And it shows that I'm not slacking off (as much..)!!

I still have to finish up my web page for Web Design.

I will not be sleeping tonight.

PS. I want her shirt... D8
Where CAN I get a shirt like that????

Sticker Design

So for my Print class we recently had a project where we had to design our own stickers..

I had a couple ideas.. But my instructor had so many stipulations I just kept running into problems!
One of them being that the designs had to be in black and white (w/ the option of adding only ONE other color.. most likely red.)
FFFFUUUUU......

Oh.
Btdubbs apparently sticker printing companies hate printing gradients...
Like it's not even an OPTION to include one..

But I wanted them to be pretty!!  UUUGGGHH..!!!

But all went well. I ultimately ended up using the soccer ball design.
It became a running joke in my class.. heh.
I guess it's really a toss-up between all three, but I'm really hard pressed to pull a favorite out of the other two. I'm in LOVE with the Audrey Hepburn sticker I designed. For some reason, all that negative space is AMAZING to me..

But I'm also really fond of the Miu Miu ad that I played around with..
It's probably the half-tone effect I doctored it with in Photoshop.
Or it could be the awesome way the girls are arranged.
Or it could be those awfully fancy schmancy shades they've got on.
Or it could be all three..

Oh well.

Maybe I'll get the other two printed at some point.

So we went out...

And Vincent and I went to Art Bar.
It's a snazzy lil place in downtown Columbia and it's a great place to be if you've got time to burn on the weekends.
So I was in town, and Vincent and I wanted somewhere to be so Art Bar it was.
Interesting characters floating around that place..
But aside from the people-watching (which is also an awesome feature), I'm absolutely in love with the way the place is set up.
Big open central bar where the bar-keeps all flutter around serving drinks in the middle while everyone sits around in this giant, room-sized circle. It's really drum-circle, communal feeling. Great for facilitating conversation with otherwise absolute strangers, I guess.

But anyway, while I was there I decided to get a jump on my Digital Photography assignment and take some macros.

It's actually one of the few bars where I've seen them use REAL burning candles..

This one's my favorite. They have this projector in one of the rooms parallel to the bar and it throws this moving lava lamp-like image on the wall.. It's crazy awesome to be in there; and there's writing from various patrons all over the walls which only adds to the ambiance, I think.
I think I might actually make this the image on my Mac's desktop...

In the same room there's also a chandelier decked out in red Christmas lights.
I'm pretty sure it was "rescued" years ago. As I'm sure MUCH of the decor in Art Bar was.
This thing is MASSIVE as far as my experience with dive bars go.. and yes. Art Bar's a bit of a hole in the wall, but its practically 0 on the the Sketch-o-meter.
Like I said, interesting characters, good service, and you'll overdose on the ambiance..

Quite frankly, I don't think I'll even bother sending these through Photoshop...
At least not rigorously...
I love 'em just that much..

Oh and btdubbs, if you're interested in checking out Art Bar and all its awesomeness I suggest going here.

3D Class Proj#1

Just a little something we had to cook up for our first project in my 3D Design class.

The idea was to create a wearable headpiece that was all made out of paper.
THIS all made out of paper.
I mean ALL.
Good gracious, the things one can accomplish with artists' tape, rubber cement, a glue gun, and a little elbow-grease and hand skills...
I was especially pleased with how my hand-drawn doily/lace came out.
My professor was rather pleased with the craftsmanship of it as well.

Art a la Carte

I'm a little biased on this one...

I had to do a research paper on Alphonse Mucha and had to compare some of his works to Toulouse Lautrec's.
Honestly I love them both but I kinda wish that they were exhibiting some of Mucha's work.
But I REALLY wanna go regardless.
And I suggest YOU GO TOO!!
The only thing is... don't we start Spring Break around that time..???
I might not be here considering I don't  have classes on Fridays...
Crap.
But still.
Who wants to come with?

Never Hide..EVER.

So I'm quite fond of the RayBan brand of sunglasses (despite having yet to own a pair of my very own...
>.<)  Which brings me here! Check THIS out.

Precious right?
I mean, sure; it's more than likely fake but I'm in love with the idea of it as a promotional video for the RayBan brand.
Heck I'd go out and buy a pair..

Superstar

Alright, kids. Check this out:

I'm probably just a LITTLE bit late to the table on this one, but I'm in LOVE with this website right now!

Meet Milky Way-- a perky little blond with stars in her eyes and the galaxy in the palm of her hand! She's all kinds of awesome and all sorts of fun! But that's not where the coolness ends! Every superstar needs an entourage, right? Enter in the Galaxy Girls Venus, Pluto, Jupiter, Mercury, Mars, the twins Neptune and Uranus, Saturn, the Sun, and the Moon. Each character comes with her own unique style, symbol, personality, and set of ambitions. MWGG also comes with its own set of awesome swag as well! Posters, buttons, stickers, dolls, you name it! There's even a book-- ever so appropriately entitled What Planet are You From?

The character concept belongs to Lauren Faust. Yeah you know.. The Original Powerpuff Girl.?
She's got a multitude of successful franchises underneath her belt, including Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, the Powerpuff Girls, and Hasbro's new "My Little Pony" series.

I know.
Girl puts in WORK.
And now we have Milky and her snazzy intergalactic rolling-crew (literally..*snicker*).
But really. The skates add the perfect touch of precious to the overall character design, don't they?
So far, Mars is my favorite.
But design aspects aside. The product has an awesome message for the younger-female-set as well. Values like individuality, friendship, ambition, and general love for self and all its complexities are all thrown in there.
Like I said..
Precious.

I'm REALLY hoping that this gets turned into an actual animated series.
I'd only watch it like.. EVERYDAY and buy the dvd box set on the first day of its release..
Just sayin..

You can check out Milky Way and the Galaxy Girls here.
